Oakwood Track & Field Shines at Stark County Meet

The Oakwood Track and Field team delivered an outstanding performance this past Friday at the Stark County meet, competing against a field of 18 teams. Our athletes displayed incredible skill and determination, resulting in a second-place overall finish for the boys and a third-place overall finish for the girls.
The meet was marked by numerous personal records and several historic school milestones. Please join us in celebrating the following highlights:
Individual & Relay Champions
- Derriona Jones: Swept the 100m, 200m, and 400m dashes, securing first place in all three. In a remarkable feat, she broke both the meet and school records for every event.
- DJ Jones: Took first place in both the 110m and 200m hurdles, setting a new school record in the 110m hurdles.
- Maddy Speakman: Secured a first-place finish in the 800m run.
- Boys 4x800 Relay: The team of Brody Baxter, Will Foltz, Warren Offineer, and Henry Stephan took home first place.
- Boys 4x200 Relay: Following a thrilling comeback on the final leg, Caleb Pellegrino, Ruben Chaney, Joel Dunnivan, and Avin Hatchett secured a first-place victory.
Record-Breaking Performances & Top Finishes
- Girls 4x100 Relay: Mackenzie Speakman, La'Rhae Hubbard, Arianna Freeman, and Journey Harris finished third and successfully broke a school record that had stood for 27 years.
- Girls 4x200 Relay: Mackenzie Speakman, Maddy Speakman, Arianna Freeman, and Emmie Meyer earned a hard-fought second place.
- 110m Hurdles: Ka'Dhen Strebel followed closely behind teammate DJ Jones to earn a second-place finish.
- 200m Dash: Avin Hatchett placed second overall.
- Field Events: In the Pole Vault, Callie Clarke took fourth and Aubrey Long took fifth. In Discus, Hannah Harding secured a fifth-place finish.
