Oakwood Track & Field Athletes Soar at State Meet

Our Oakwood Golden Eagles Track & Field team capped off an incredible season with stellar performances at the State Meet this past Saturday, May 17th. We are incredibly proud of all our athletes who competed and represented our school with their determination and grit!

Khloe Williams threw her way to a 19th place finish in the state for Shot Put – an outstanding achievement!

Our relay teams also left their mark:

The Girls’ 4×800 meter relay team, comprised of Maddie Kral, Madison Speakman, Alexis Fleming, and Averie Hughes, powered through to secure 12th in the state!
The Boys’ 4×800 meter relay team, featuring Jake McHenry, Greyson Riggle, Jayce Royer, and Charles Stephan finished 19th in the state.
A huge congratulations to our Girls’ 4×200 meter relay team of Madison Speakman, Myana Lyon, Melia Lawson, and Hannah Ecksmith who not only finished an incredible 8th in the state, but also set a NEW SCHOOL RECORD, breaking their previous record with a time of 1:50.08! What an awesome accomplishment!

Charles Stephan came close to breaking the boys 800 meter record and raced to 7th place in the state!

And a special shout-out to Derrionna Jones, our lone three-event qualifier! Derrionna showcased her versatility and speed in three open events, finishing:

15th in the state in the 100 meter dash
13th in the state in the 400 meter dash
Qualified 13th in the state in the 200 meter dash

We are so proud of the dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship demonstrated by every single student athlete this season. Congratulations to all our State qualifiers and placers on an unforgettable meet and season
