What a night for our 8th-grade Eagles football team! In a true nail-biter, the Golden Eagles came out on top to defeat the Massillon Tigers with a final score of 18-13.
The game was a back-and-forth battle from the very start. The Eagles took an early lead with some impressive plays. The crowd went wild as Dre Brumley broke free for a long touchdown run on the Eagles opening drive. Tim Pridgen also found the end zone right before halftime, adding to the Eagles' lead.
But Massillon fought back, and with less than two minutes left in the game, they scored to take the lead, 13-12. The pressure was on, but Oakwood kept their composure. With the clock ticking down, the offense mounted a heroic final drive. Jalyn Harrison, Ka’Dhen Strebel, and AD Desmond all made clutch catches to move the chains and get the team in scoring position.
Then, for the game-winning moment, quarterback Frankie Yutzy delivered a perfect pass to Ka’Dhen Strebel in the end zone, securing the 18-13 victory!
Congratulations to the entire 8th-grade football team on this fantastic win! The 8th grade team is back in action on Wednesday, September 3rd against Jackson. The game will be at Bob Commings Field at GlenOak High School. Kickoff will be at 6:00 PM.
